Working together to help families thrive
Barnardo’s Scotland engages with external organisations to bring about positive change for children, young people and families within Scotland. Barnardo’s provide more than 150 community-based services across Scotland, supporting 11,500+ vulnerable children, young people and families every year.
Edinburgh Council plays a central role in shaping the continued success of Edinburgh as a 21st century capital city. Key partners are Educational Psychology Services and Children’s Disability Social Work Team.
Educational Psychology Services aim to improve the experiences and outcomes of children and young people (0-24 years) with additional support needs and work with families, schools and nurseries, and with professional groups in the Council.
Children’s Disability Social Work Team provide social work assessment and support for children and young people with a diagnosed lifelong disability, who are usually of school age.
Kindred is a specialist charity that exists to support families of children with complex needs. Kindred’s vision is that parents of children with complex needs in Scotland will have early access to peer-led support and information.

NHS Lothian provides a comprehensive range of primary, community-based and acute hospital services for the populations of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian.
Tailor Ed Foundation is an Edinburgh based charity which supports families who have a child with autism. Our aim is to improve day to day life and we do so via a range of services including home based interventions.
The Yard is a Scottish charity that provides adventure play services for disabled children and young people, and their families. It offers creative and inclusive play experiences in a well-supported environment, alongside wraparound support for the whole family. Services include respite and transition youth clubs, early years, specialist sessions with schools, family play sessions, and inclusive play and disability training.
